This mini chili pepper crochet pattern is a fun and easy amigurumi food project, perfect for beginners and great for using leftover yarn. If you enjoy making cute crochet food or small accessories, this chili pepper also works perfectly as a crochet keychain or mini plush.
For a small chili pepper (3 inches / 8 cm), use sport-weight cotton yarn and a B/1 (2.5 mm) crochet hook.
For a larger plush chili pepper (7 inches / 17 cm), use super bulky chenille yarn and a H/8 (5mm) crochet hook.
Both versions are made using the same pattern below—simply change your yarn and hook size to create the size you prefer.

Materials:
These are the materials that I used. However, feel free to replace them with other materials of your choice. Furthermore, if you wish to crochet a larger or smaller version of this toy plushie using this free chili pepper amigurumi crochet pattern, you can simply use a thicker or thinner yarn and crochet hook.
Cotton Sport Weight keychain version 3 inch / 8 cm:
– Yarn and Colors Must Have Red cotton color: 031
– Yarn and Colors Must Have Green cotton color: 084
– Yarn and Colors Must Have Black cotton color: 100
– Synthetic Poly Filling
– Crochet hook size B/1 (2.5 mm)
Chenille Super Bulky version 7 inch / 17 cm:
– Yellow, Green and Black Chenille yarn

TIP: Are you using are using Blanket yarn? Then I recommend a L/11 (8 mm) crochet hook.

Free Chili Pepper Crochet Pattern
Chili Pepper
- Use red yarn
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
- Rnd 2: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (9)
- Rnd 3-4: sc in all 9 st (9)
- Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (12)
- Rnd 6: sc in all 12 st (12)
- Rnd 7: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (15)
- Rnd 8: sc in all 15 st (15)
- Rnd 9: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (18)
- Rnd 10: sc in all 18 st (18)
- Rnd 11: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (21)
- Rnd 12: sc in all 21 st (21)
- Rnd 13: (sc in next 6 st, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (24)
- Rnd 14-16: sc in all 24 st (24)
- If you want your pepper to have a face. Embroider two eyes over rounds 14 and 15, with an interspace of 3 stitches (photo 1-2).
- Embroider a small mouth (one stitch wide) with black yarn between rounds 13 and 14 (photo 3).
- Rnd 17: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times (18)
- Stuff the pepper with fiberfill and continue stuffing as you go.
- Rnd 18: (sc, dec in next st) repeat 6 times (12)
- Rnd 19: dec 6 times (6)
- Finish the pepper by taking the last strand of yarn and sewing it through the front loops of every crochet stitch that you made in the last round. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Now stick a needle under the hole and weave in the yarn end.
Stem:
- Use green yarn
- Rnd 1: start 5 sc in a magic ring (5)
- Rnd 2-4: sc in all 5 st (5)
- Rnd 5: inc 5 times (10)
- Rnd 6: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 5 times (15)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Sew the stem on top of the pepper.
