These are the materials that I used. However, feel free to replace them with other materials of your choice. Furthermore, if you wish to crochet a larger or smaller version of the dragon amigurumi using this free crochet pattern, you can simply use a thicker or thinner yarn and crochet hook.

Cotton Sport Weight version 9 inch / 20 cm:
– Brown cotton Yarn and Colors Must Have color: 027: 50 gram

TIP: Are you using are using Blanket yarn? Then I recommend a 8.0 mm crochet hook.
For Super Bulky Chenille yarn I recommend a 5 mm crochet hook, for bulky velvet yarn a 3.5 mm crochet hook.

Use a french knot to make the nostrils with black yarn between rounds 16 and 17 on stitch 34 and 37.

Instead of a french knot, you could embroider the nostrils on the face, by sewing over one stitch with black yarn to create a nostril. Just like a did on this small monkey. The small mini monkey keychain crochet pattern has a full video tutorial included.

Rnd 4: sc in next 16 st, through the beige and brown parts at the same time. This is how the two parts are connected. Sl st in next st, skip next st (18)
Fasten off with a slip stitch. Leave a long piece of yarn to sew the ears on the head. Sew the ears on the head on round 13-17.

Tip plush yarn: when you make this monkey crochet pattern from chenille yarn, you might want to stretch out ear while crocheting, to make sure it is flat.

Arm (2x):

Use brown yarn

Thumb:

Fasten off with a slip stitch. Leave a long piece of yarn to sew the thumb on the arm. Sew the thumb on the arm on round 4-5.
Sew the arms on the body of the monkey on round 20, with an interspace of 11 stitches on the frontside.

Leg (2x):

Use brown yarn

Sew the legs on the body on round 3-5.

Tail:

Rnd 6-36: sc in all 6 st (6) Put a bit of stuffing in the tail when crocheting the tail.
Fasten off with a slip stitch. Leave a long piece of yarn to sew the tail on the body.
Sew a long piece of brown yarn on the top of your tail. Now sew the yarn along the long side of the tail (see photo). Pull the piece of yarn to shape the tail. Weave in the remaining yarn at the bottom of the tail.
Sew the tail on the back of the body on round 9-11.
