Mico the Monkey Amigurumi
Create your very own cheeky monkey with this free monkey crochet pattern. This is a quick and easy crochet pattern including a full free video on how to create this cute monkey. If you need help with the free pattern, you can check the video for help with every step.
To create the big monkey I used Super Bulky Chenille yarn and a 5.0 mm crochet hook. The smaller monkey was made with sport weight cotton yarn and a 2.5 mm crochet hook. But you can use any yarn you like to crochet Mico the Monkey.

Materials:
These are the materials that I used. However, you can replace them with other materials of your choice. If you wish to crochet a larger or smaller version of the monkey using this free monkey amigurumi pattern, you can simply use a thicker or thinner yarn and crochet hook. The bigger the yarn, the larger your monkey stuffed animal will become.
Cotton Sport Weight version 9 cm / 4 inch:
– Brown Yarn and Colors Must Have cotton color: 026
– Beige Yarn and Colors Must Have cotton color: 003
– Black Yarn and Colors Must Have cotton color: 100
– Synthetic Poly Filling
– Crochet hook size 2.5 mm
– Safety eyes 7 mm
Chenille Super Bulky version 18 cm / 7 inch:
– Beige Chenille yarn
– Brown Chenille yarn
– Black Chenille yarn
– Synthetic Poly Filling
– Crochet hook size 5.0 mm
– Safety eyes 15 mm

Supplies:
– Scissors
– Tapestry needles with blunt point, nr. 16 or 17
– Pins
TIP: Are you using are using Blanket yarn? Then I recommend a 8.0 mm crochet hook.
For Bulky Velvet yarn I recommend a 3.5 mm crochet hook.

st: stitch

Free Monkey Crochet Pattern
Body:
- Start in beige yarn
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
- Rnd 2: inc in all 6 st [12]
- Rnd 3: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (18)
- Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (24)
- Rnd 5: sc in all 24 st (24)
- Change to brown yarn (photo 1 – 4)

- Rnd 6: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (30)
- Rnd 7-10: sc in all 30 st (30)
- Attach the eyes by putting the safety eyes between rounds 3 and 4, with an interspace of 7 stitches (make sure the start of round 6 is on the bottom side)
- Rnd 11: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times (24)
- Rnd 12: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 8 times (16)
- Rnd 13: sc in all 16 st (16)
- Rnd 14: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 4 times (20)
- Rnd 15: sc in all 20 st (20)
- Stuff the body with fiberfill and continue stuffing as you go.
- Rnd 16: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) repeat 4 times (24)
- Rnd 17-19: sc in all 24 st (24)
- Rnd 20: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times (18)
- Rnd 21: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times (12)
- Rnd 22: dec 6 times (6)
- Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail. Using your yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull it tight to close.
Snout:
- Use beige yarn:
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
- Rnd 2: inc 6 times (12)
- Rnd 3: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (18)
- Rnd 4: sc in all 18 st (18)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the snout below the eyes, with the top of the snout below round 3 and the bottom above round 6.
When you have almost sewn the snout on the body, embroider two nostrils on the snout between rounds 3 and 4 (photo 5 – 6). Put some stuffing in the snout before you finish sewing it on the body.

Ear 2x:
- Use beige yarn
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
- Rnd 2: sc in all 6 st (6)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Flatten the ears and sew them on round 8, on the side of the head.
Leg 4x:
- Start with beige yarn:
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
- Rnd 2: sc in all 6 st (6)
- Change to brown yarn
- Rnd 3-7: sc in all 6 st (6)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Sew two legs on round 14, with an interspace of 5 stitches on the belly side of the monkey.
Sew two legs on round 20, with an interspace of 5 stitches on the belly side of the monkey.
Tail:
- Use brown yarn:
- Rnd 1: start 5 sc in a magic ring (5)
- Rnd 2-8: sc in all 5 st (5)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Sew the tail on top of the body, on round 22. - Now your little monkey plushie is done! I hope you enjoyed this free monkey crochet pattern.
