Before you start, it might be a good idea to attach the yarn on the back of your crochet work by sewing it through a back of a stitch. This make it easier to create the french knot.
- Bring your needle up from the back side of the fabric or crochet piece. Point the needle downward and wrap the yarn around the needle two times.
- Hold the yarn taut with your left hand (your non-needle hand) to prevent it from uncoiling.
- Reinsert the tip of your needle just next to the original exit point, you can go through the same hole, but then make sure you sew the yarn to the back side of your crochet work, so it will stay in place.
- Gently pull the yarn downward so the coil tightens, then slide it down the needle to form a small knot on the surface. While holding the knot in place, push the needle all the way through to the back. Now you have made a French Knot!
- Secure the yarn on the inside with a small knot.
