Coco the Cat
Learn how to crochet a very cute cat amigurumi with this easy and fast to make free cat amigurumi crochet pattern. This small project is very suitable for beginners that want to learn how to crochet an amigurumi.
You can make the cat in any yarn that you like. I made it in cotton and chenille yarn, the cotton one is very small, the chenille one is much larger, these two cats are both made with the same kitty pattern.
If you want to crochet a big plush toy within a few hours, use big chunky yarn and crochet hook and you will have made a cute gift very fast! It will take about 2 hours to make.

Materials:
These are the materials that I used. You can replace them with other materials. If you wish to crochet a larger or smaller version of this cat amigurumi, you can just use a thicker or thinner yarn/crochet hook.
Small coco the cat: 6 cm / 2,5 inch
Big coco the cat: 16 cm / 6 inch
Small Coco the Cat:
Purple cotton – catania color: 226
Black Cotton – catania color: 110
Synthetic Poly filling
1 pair black safety eyes: 8 mm
Big Coco the Cat:
The big cat amigurumi (24 cm / 10 inch) was made with chenille yarn (super bulky), 5.0 mm hook and 16 mm safety eyes. If you want to use Super Bulky Blanket yarn, I recommend a 8.0 mm crochet hook.
TIP Chenille/Velvet or other similar yarn: The body of the cat might look a bit to oval when crocheting it, don’t worry about it, it will be fine when you put stuffing in it.

Tapestry needles with blunt point, nr. 16

Body:
- Use purple yarn.
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
- Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12]
- Rnd 3: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [18]
- Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [24]
- Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [30]
- Rnd 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [36]
- Rnd 7-8: sc in all 36 st [36]
- Rnd 9: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [42]
- Rnd 10: sc in all 42 st [42]
- Rnd 11: (sc in next 6 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [48]
- Rnd 12-17: sc in all 48 st [48]
- Insert the safety eyes between rounds 14-15 with an interspace of 10 st.

- Rnd 18: (sc in next 6 st, dec) repeat 6 times [42]
- Rnd 19: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]
- Rnd 20: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 6 times [30]
- Rnd 21: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
- Stuff the body with toy filling.
- Rnd 22: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
- Rnd 23: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]
- Rnd 24: dec 6 times [6]
- Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Using your yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull it tight to close. Weave in the yarn end.
Ear 2x:
- Use purple yarn
- Rnd 1: start sc 4 in a magic circle [4]
- Rnd 2: inc 4 times [8]
- Rnd 3: (sc in next 1 st, inc) repeat 4 times (12)
- Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 4 times (16)
- Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 4 times (20)
- Rnd 6: sc in all 20 st (20)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Fold the ears to flatten them. Sew the ears between rounds 5-13 of the body.

Feet 2x:
- Use purple yarn
- Rnd 1: start sc 6 in a magic circle [6]
- Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12]
- Rnd 3-4: sc in all 12 st [12]
- Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 3 times (9)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Fold the feet to flatten them and sew to the bottom of the body.

Tail:
- Use purple yarn
- Rnd 1: start sc 6 in a magic circle (6)
- Rnd 2-18: st in all 6 st (6)
- Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Sew the tail on the back of the body on round 21.
- If you want to have some stuffing in the tail, do that now, I didn’t stuff the tail.
Now your cat is done!
