Lily the Cat Amigurumi

Learn how to create this adorable cat Amigurumi with this free cat crochet pattern. This is an easy to crochet pattern, perfect for beginners. It is also very quick to make, takes about an hour. You can use any yarn to make it.

I made a small keychain mini cat from sport weight cotton yarn and a bigger cat from Chenille Super Bulky plush yarn. The pattern has a full video included on how to make this cute cat Amigurumi.

Materials:
These are the materials that I used for this cat. You can replace them with other materials. If you wish to crochet a larger or smaller version of this mini cat keychain Amigurumi you can just use a thicker or thinner yarn/crochet hook. Cotton Sport Weight version 6 cm / 2 inch:
– Grey catania cotton color – 172
– Dark Grey catania cotton color – 429
– Pink catania cotton color – 222
– Black catania cotton color – 110

Chenille Super Bulky plush version 14 cm / 6 inch:
– Grey Chenille yarn
– Dark Grey Chenille yarn
– Pink Chenille yarn
– Black Chenille yarn
– Synthetic Poly Filling

TIP Chenille/Velvet or other similar yarn: The body of the cat might look a bit to oval when crocheting it, don’t worry about it, it will be fine when you put stuffing in it.

Supplies:
– Scissors
– Tapestry needles with blunt point, nr. 16 or 17
– Pins
– Crochet hook size 2.5 mm 4/0 for the cotton or 5.0 mm H for Chenille yarn

Body:

Use grey yarn
Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: inc 6 times (12)
Rnd 3: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (24)
If you want you can turn this cat into a keychain by sewing two strands of folded yarn in the top and secure it in the inside of the head.
Rnd 5: sc in all 24 st (24)
Rnd 6: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (30)
Rnd 7: sc in all 30 st (30)
Mark the beginning of round 8 with a piece of yarn if you haven’t already, so you can count the stitches later.
Rnd 8: (sc in next 9 st, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (33)
Rnd 9-10: sc in all 33 st (33)
Rnd 11: (sc in next 9 st, dec) repeat 3 times (30)
Sew the eyes over round 8, one between stitch 13 and 14 and the other between stitch 18 and 19. Sew the nose between rounds 8 and 9, the nose is 1 stitch wide. There are 2 stitches between the eyes and the nose.
Sew the top stripes on the body between rounds 8 and 9 and the bottom stripes between rounds 9 and10. The front and back top (between Rnd 8 and 9) stripes are 2 stitches wide and the front and back bottom (between Rnd 9 and 10) stitches are 3 stitches wide.
Sew three stripes on the top of the head, 3 on the front and 3 on the back, the front stripes are 4 rounds long, the back stripes 3 rounds.

Rnd 12: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
Rnd 13: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 14: sc in all 18 st (18)
Rnd 15: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 16-18: sc in all 24 st (24)
Sew the stripe on the back of the cat, the top stripe between rounds 15 and 16 and the bottom stripe between 16 and 17. The top stripe is 6 stitches wide and the bottom stripe 4 stitches.
Rnd 19: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 8 times (16)
Rnd 20: dec 8 times (8)
Stuff the body with toy fiberfilling.
Rnd 21: dec 4 times (4)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finish the head by taking the last strand of yarn and sewing it through the front loops of every crochet stitch that you made in the last round. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Now stick a needle under the hole and weave in the yarn end.

Ear 2x:

Use grey yarn
Rnd 1: start sc 4 in a magic circle (4)
Rnd 2: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 2 times (6)
Rnd 3: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 2 times (8)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 2 times (10)
Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Fold the ear to flatten it, sew the ear between rounds 3 and 8.

Tail:

Use grey yarn
Rnd 1: start sc 6 in a magic circle (6)
Rnd 2: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (9)
Rnd 3-4: sc in all 9 st (9)
Rnd 5: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 3 times (6)
Rnd 6-11: sc in all 6 st (6)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stuff the tail with toy fiberfilling.
Finish the tail by taking the last strand of yarn and sewing it through the front loops of every crochet stitch that you made in the last round. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Now stick a needle under the hole and weave in the yarn end.
Sew the tail on round 18 of the body. The start of the tail is placed a bit lower of round 19.

Feet 2x:

Use grey yarn
Rnd 1: start sc 6 in a magic circle (6)
Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Sew the feet on front of the body between rounds 17-20.

Now your cat is done!
