Free Fox Crochet pattern

Axl the Fox Amigurumi

Crochet Axl the fox Amigurumi with this free fox crochet pattern. You can crochet him with any yarn that you like, make sure to use the smallest crochet hook recommended on the label of the yarn.
Size small fox made with sport weight cotton yarn: 7 cm / 3 inch.
Size big plush fox made with chenille super bulky yarn: 16 cm / 6 inch.

Axl the Fox just loves autumn! The leaves turning orange is like a big warm hug from nature just for him. Plus, he can play hide and seek with all his forest friends without them spotting him too easily,
since he’s a bit of a shy guy.

Materials:
These are the materials that I used. You can replace them with other
materials. If you wish to make a larger or smaller version of this Amigurumi,
you can just use a thicker or thinner yarn/crochet hook.
– Orange cotton – catania color: 281
– Black cotton – catania color: 110
– White cotton – catania color: 105
Synthetic Poly filling
– 1 safety eyes size: 8 mm
The big fox was made with orange, black and white super bulky Chenille yarn
and a 5.0 mm hook, the eyes are 16 mm.

Scissors
Tapestry needles with blunt point, nr. 16
Pins
Crochet hook size 2.5 mm 4/0 for the sport weight cotton version
Crochet hook size 5.0 mm H for the chenille super bulky version

Body:

  • Use orange yarn.
  • Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
  • Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12]
  • Rnd 3: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [18]
  • Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [24]
  • Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [30]
  • Rnd 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [36]
  • Rnd 7-8: sc in all 36 st [36]
  • Rnd 9: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [42]
  • Rnd 10: sc in all 42 st [42]
  • Rnd 11: (sc in next 6 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [48]
  • Rnd 12-15: sc in all 48 st [48]
  • Insert 8 mm safety eyes between round 12-13 with an interspace of 12 st.
  • Rnd 16: (sc in next 6 st, dec) repeat 6 times [42]
  • Rnd 17: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]
  • Rnd 18: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 6 times [30]
  • Rnd 19: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
  • Stuff the body with toy fiberfilling and continue stuffing as you go.
  • Rnd 20: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
  • Rnd 21: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]
  • Rnd 22: dec 6 times [6]
  • Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Using your yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull it tight to close. Weave in the yarn end.

Snout:

  • Use white yarn.
  • Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
  • Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12]
  • Rnd 3: sc in all 12 st [12]
  • Rnd 4: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times (18)
  • Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times (24)
  • Rnd 6: sc in all 24 st (24)
  • Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  • Stuff the snout with toy fiberfilling, just before you finish sewing the beak on the body.
    Sew the snout onto the head, between rounds 9-18.

Nose:

  • Use black yarn
  • Rnd 1: start sc 5 in a magic circle (5)
  • Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  • Sew the nose onto round 1 of the snout.

Ear 2x:

  • Use orange yarn
  • Rnd 1: start sc 4 in a magic circle [4]
  • Rnd 2: inc 4 times [8]
  • Rnd 3: (sc in next 1 st, inc) repeat 4 times (12)
  • Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 4 times (16)
  • Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 4 times (20)
  • Rnd 6-7: sc in all 20 st (20)
  • Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  • Fold the ears to flatten them.

Inside ear 2x:

  • Use white yarn
  • ch 6
  • Row 1: Start in second ch from hook, sc in next 5 st, ch 1, turn (5)
  • Row 2: skip first st, sc in next 4 st, ch 1, turn (4)
  • Row 3: Skip first st, sc in next 3 st, ch 1, turn (3)
  • Row 4: Skip first st, sc in next 2 st, ch 1, turn (2)
  • Row 5: Skip first st, Start in second ch from hook, sc in next 1 st (1)
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  • Sew the inside ear on the ear.
  • Sew the ears onto the body, between rounds 5-13.

Feet 2x:

  • Use orange yarn
  • Rnd 1: start sc 6 in a magic circle [6]
  • Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12]
  • Rnd 3-4: sc in all 12 st [12]
  • Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 3 times (9)
  • Fasten off with a slst, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  • Fold the feet to flatten them and sew to the bottom of the body.

Tail:

  • Begin with white yarn
  • Rnd 1: start sc 4 in a magic circle (4)
  • Rnd 2: inc 4 times [8]
  • Rnd 3: sc in all 8 st [8]
  • Rnd 4: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 4 times (12)
  • Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 4 times (16)
  • Rnd 6: sc in all 16 st [16]
  • Switch to orange yarn
  • Rnd 7: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 4 times (20)
  • Rnd 8-9: sc in all 20 st [20]
  • Rnd 10: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [16]
  • Rnd 11-12: sc in all 16 st [16]
  • Rnd 13: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]
  • Rnd 14: sc in all 12 st [12]

  • Put stuffing in the tail. Sew the tail on the backside between rounds 14-18.
