Only Harry’s body is made with fur yarn; his arms, legs, horns, and other body parts are crocheted with fine cotton yarn, making the pattern much easier than it looks.

This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms and can be made with different yarn weights to create a larger or smaller monster. A great project for Halloween!

Fur Yarn & Cotton Sport Weight version 9 inch / 20 cm:
– Green fur garen – Lang Yarns Softhair 44
Search for a similar cotton yarn you can buy near you on YARNSUB
Crochet hook size I/9 (5.5 mm)

– Brown cotton Yarn and Colors Must Have color: 027
– White cotton Yarn and Colors Must Have color: 001
– Synthetic Poly Filling
Crochet hook size B/1 (2.5 mm)
– Safety eyes 16 mm

Body:

  • Use Green Fur yarn
  • Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
  • Rnd 2: inc in all 6 st (12)
  • Rnd 3: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (18)
  • Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (24)
  • Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (30)
  • Rnd 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (36)
  • Rnd 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (42)
  • Rnd 8-15: sc in all 42 st (42)
  • Rnd 16: (sc in next 5 st, dec in next st) repeat 6 times (36)
  • Rnd 17: (sc in next 4 st, dec in next st) repeat 6 times (30)
  • Insert both safety eyes between rounds 10 and 11, with an interspace of 6 stitches
  • The rounds and stitches are really hard to see in fury yarn. If you can’t find them, you could wait untill round 20 and then use the photo of Harry as a reference to put the eyes in.
  • Rnd 18: (sc in next 3 st, dec in next st) repeat 6 times (24)
  • Rnd 19: (sc in next 2 st, dec in next st) repeat 6 times (18)
  • Stuff the body with filling.
  • Rnd 20: (sc, dec in next st) repeat 6 times (12)
  • Rnd 21: dec 6 times (6)
  • Finish the body by taking the last strand of yarn and sewing it through the front loops of every crochet stitch that you made in the last round. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Now stick a needle under the hole and weave in the yarn end.

Teeth 4x:

  • Use white yarn
  • Rnd 1: start 4 sc in a magic ring (4)
  • Rnd 2: (sc in next 1 st, inc in next st) repeat 2 times (6)
  • Rnd 3: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 2 times (8)
  • Rnd 4: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 2 times (10)
  • Fasten off with a slip stitch, leave a long piece of yarn to sew the teeth onto the body.
  • Sew teeth on the body, leave 2 rounds between the eyes and the teeth (space that is about the size of the eyes)
