Free Bird Crochet Pattern
Crochet a cute bird with this free bird crochet pattern! This easy amigurumi bird pattern is perfect for beginners and uses only simple stitches. The pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms and can be made with any yarn you like.
I made the bird shown here with sport-weight cotton yarn and a 2.5 mm crochet hook, resulting in a finished size of approximately 5 inches (12 cm). If you prefer a larger bird plush, simply use thicker yarn and a bigger crochet hook. You can find the complete materials list below.

Materials
These are the materials that I used. However, feel free to replace them with other materials of your choice. Furthermore, if you wish to crochet a larger or smaller version of the bird amigurumi using this free stuffed animal crochet pattern, you can simply use a thicker or thinner yarn and crochet hook.
Cotton Sport Weight version 15 cm / 6 inch:
– Gray cotton Yarn and Colors Must Have color: 095
– White cotton Yarn and Colors Must Have color: 001
– Black cotton Yarn and Colors Must Have color: 100
– Blue cotton Yarn and Colors Must Have color: 120
– Synthetic Poly Filling
– Crochet hook size B/1 (2.5 mm)
– Safety eyes 1 pair: 10 mm
– 2x buttons: 10 mm

– Scissors
– Tapestry needles with blunt point
– Pins
TIP: Are you using are using Blanket yarn? Then I recommend a L/11 (8.0 mm) crochet hook.
For Super Bulky Chenille yarn I recommend a H/8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook, for bulky velvet yarn a E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook.

- Stuff the body of the bird with filling.
- Rnd 39: (sc, dec in next st) repeat 8 times (16)

- Finish the body by taking the last strand of yarn and sewing it through the front loops of every crochet stitch that you made in the last round. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Now stick a needle under the hole and weave in the yarn end.

Wing (2x):
- Use yellow yarn.
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
- Rnd 2: inc 6 times (12)
- Rnd 3: (sc in next 4 st, inc, inc) repeat 2 times (16)
- Rnd 4: (sc in next 7 st, inc) repeat 2 times (18)
- Rnd 5-6: sc in all 18 st (18)
- Rnd 7: (sc in next 7 st, dec) repeat 2 times (16)
- Rnd 8: (sc in next 6 st, dec) repeat 2 times (14)
- Rnd 9: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 2 times (12)
- Rnd 10: sc in all 12 st (12)
- Rnd 11: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 2 times (10)

- Finish the wing by taking the last strand of yarn and sewing it through the front loops of every crochet stitch that you made in the last round. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Leave a long piece of yarn to sew the wing on the body.
- Sew the wings on the body between rounds 21-34.
Beak:
- Use brown yarn.
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
- Rnd 2: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 2 times (8)
- Rnd 3: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 2 times (10)
- Rnd 4: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 2 times (12)
- Rnd 5: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 2 times (14)
- Rnd 6: (sc in next 6 st, inc) repeat 2 times (16)
- Rnd 7: sc in all 16 st (16)
- Stuff the beak with stuffing.
- Fasten off with a slip stitch. Leave a long piece of yarn to sew the beak on the body.
- Sew the beak on the body between rounds 2-8.
Feet (2x):
- First make 2 toes:
- Use brown yarn.
- Rnd 1: start 4 sc in a magic ring (4)
- Rnd 2: sc in all 4 st (4)
- Fasten off 2 toes with a slip stitch, leave the first two toes aside for now. Make another toe and this time do not finish it with a slip stitch but continue to round 3:
Toe 3:
- Rnd 3: (will be joined with toe 1) sc 2 st, (now we are going to join with another toe) continue in the first stitch of the first toe, sc in next 2 st, continue in the 1st st of toe 2, sc in next 4 st, continue in the 3rd st of toe 2, sc in next 2 st, continue in the 3rd st of toe 3, sc in next 2 st (12)
- Rnd 4-5: sc in all 12 st (12)
- Rnd 6: dec 6 times (6)
- Finish the body by taking the last strand of yarn and sewing it through the front loops of every crochet stitch that you made in the last round. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Leave a long piece of yarn to sew the feet on the body.
- Sew the feet on the body between rounds 12-20.
